Thinkways Motion Test 2011

Thinkways and Walldrawings are an ongoing series of drawings I've been creating for decades. These drawings are small road-like lines of graphite and ink on paper. Often with complex overlapping lines or challenging intersections, the drawings are derived from a personal emotional connection with my past but also lead to my future. The public could relate to these pathways; they might represent lines of history or roads that may guide them to the unfolding of their own lives. Lines could be interpreted as the interweaving of cultural diversity, or the complex circulatory and neurological systems of the human body. I have explored the Thinkways in various formats: drawings on paper, large scale wall drawings, copper plate etchings, foil prints, and animated films. The name "Thinkways" purely comes from the fact that while I create these drawings, I'm thinking. I just let my mind wonder. This is the second animated exploration of a Thinkway drawing. The first one I did was only 18 drawings. This one is comprised of 1,050 individual hand-drawn drawings done on vellum. Each was then scanned in and assembled as a film digitally. Soon I will be starting the next film.
